Golf Lessons

General Information

I offer various types of golf instruction, including individual lessons, group lessons, playing lessons, Private Long Drive Schools and Private Custom Golf Schools. Continue below on this page for more details on private and group lessons. See the Golf Schools page for information on longer and more intensive sessions.

Locations

Lessons are conducted at two facilities in the east bay area of San Francisco in Northern California: Boundary Oak Golf Course in Walnut Creek, California (about 45 minutes east of San Francisco) or The Golf Club at Roddy Ranch in Antioch, California (about an hour east of San Francisco). Individual Lessons

Private individual lessons are available by appointment, for players of any age (kids to seniors) and any skill level (absolute beginners to advanced and professional players), on any aspect(s) of the game. Lessons can also be taken in a series of 6, which includes a discount.**

* All first-time students receive supplemental materials, so the cost of the first lesson is $30 more than any subsequent lessons.

** In order to receive the discounted rate for a series of lessons (6 lessons for the price of 5) two conditions must be met, whether for individual or group lessons:

• The series must be paid for in advance, at the conclusion of the first lesson
• The series must be completed within 90 days

If there is a problem with either of these conditions please schedule single lessons rather than a series.

Group Lessons

Private group (your pre-arranged groups of 2 - 5 players) lessons are available by appointment, for players of any skill level, on any aspect(s) of the game. Lessons can also be taken in a series of 6, which includes a discount.**  Rates vary with the number of players in the group.

Coaching Classes

I also teach group lessons called "Coaching Classes," in 2 regularly scheduled weekly sessions (during the fair-weather season, approximately March through October, when there are enough interested students). Classes are paid for monthly on, or near, the first of the month. You may attend as many or as few of the classes as you wish. Each student receives some individual instruction and supervision during each session, though the amount of personal attention is very brief compared to private lessons.

The rate for Coaching Classes is $80 per month. That means that you have access to approximately 8 sessions per month for $80. You may also attend sessions individually for $20 per session.

NOTES: Coaching Classes are NOT for absolute beginners, as the learning curve for beginners requires much more immersion and undivided attention. Practice balls are not included in the cost of Coaching Classes; they will have to be purchased separately from the driving range in whichever bucket size you prefer. The length of each session may vary depending on the number of participants.

Playing Lessons

Playing lessons are available by appointment, and are best scheduled for weekdays. I recommend that you (or everybody in your group) have had at least one lesson with me at the practice facilities before requesting a playing lesson. 9 hole and 18 hole playing lessons are available. On-course instruction is also available as part of my Private Golf School sessions.
